Face Recognition

In the talk we discuss the face recognition process. We show how to solve the difficulties of face recognition such as the larger variation within the class and the smaller difference between classes. We show how to solve the bigger pose variation by fusion of pose subset and by modification of the faces using reconstruction of the 3D pose. Then we discuss the face depth recognition, such as pose estimation, gender, race, and age recognition. Third we discuss how to obtain an accurate description and modeling ASM and AAM of human faces. Fourth we introduce applications of face recognition.

Biography of the Presenter

Prof. Ding Xiaoqing

Prof. Ding Xiaoqing was graduated from Dept. of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University, in 1962 and won the gold medal for the best graduating students in Tsinghua University. Now she is a professor and Ph.D supervisor in Dept. of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University. She is the Senior Member of Chinese Institute of Electronics and the fellowship of Chinese Communication Institute. She have published 140 papers and is the co-author of two books, one is published by World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd. Her research interests include Image Processing, Pattern Recognition, Character Recognition, Document Analysis, Computer Vision, Multimedia information Processing and Video Surveillance etc. She has researched and developed a series of Chinese character recognition systems, which are in the tope level worldwide. Therefore, she has owned more Honors and Awards, such as Second and third class China National Scientific and Technical Progress Award, in 1999 and 1992, respectively, and First class Scientific & Technical progress Award by Chinese Ministry of Education in 1998 and 1990, Second class Scientific and Technical Progress Award by Chinese Ministry of Education or by Beijing City five times, Top 10 Electronics Achievements Award, by China Ministry of Electronic Industry, and also Award for Advanced Person of 863 Chines High Tech Plan.
